The Book of Job

There is one particular book of the Bible that deals with the question of suffering in the world like no other. This is the Book of Job, which tells of the man Job and his story.

The Book of Job is about suffering in this world and in particular the idea of “unjust” suffering. How is it that someone can suffer unjustly? And where is God in the suffering? These are very essential questions of our existence. However, it does not mention the suffering of all people, but simply the suffering of one person – the suffering of Job. The book is his story, and also the story of God with this man.

An introduction to the book of Job is at the same time an introduction to many central questions of our humanity. It is a good introduction for a joint Bible study, e.g. in a small group.
